Wisdom 18:14-16; 19:6-9

For while peaceful silence wrapped all things, and night in her own swiftness was half spent, your all-powerful word leaped from heaven, from the royal throne, a stern warrior, into the midst of the doomed land, bearing as a sharp sword your authentic commandment, and standing, it filled all things with death, and while it touched the sky it stood upon the earth. For the whole creation, each part in its diverse kind, was made new again, complying with your commandments, that your servants might be kept unharmed. Then the cloud that overshadowed the camp was seen, and dry land rising up out of what had been water, out of the Red sea an unhindered highway, and a grassy plain out of the violent surge, by which they passed over with all their army, these who were covered with your hand, having seen strange marvels. For like horses they roamed at large, and they skipped about like lambs, praising you, O Lord, who was their deliverer.

Luke 18:1-8

OR propose loro ancora una parabola, per mostrare che convien del continuo orare, e non istancarsi, dicendo: Vi era un giudice in una città, il quale non temeva Iddio, e non avea rispetto ad alcun uomo. Or in quella stessa città vi era una vedova, la qual venne a lui, dicendo: Fammi ragione del mio avversario. Ed egli, per un tempo, non volle farlo; ma pur poi appresso disse fra sè medesimo: Quantunque io non tema Iddio, e non abbia rispetto ad alcun uomo, nondimeno, perciocchè questa vedova mi dà molestia, io le farò ragione; che talora non venga tante volte che alla fine mi stanchi. E il Signore disse: Ascoltate ciò che dice il giudice iniquo. E Iddio non vendicherà egli i suoi eletti, i quali giorno e notte gridano a lui; benchè sia lento ad adirarsi per loro? Certo, io vi dico, che tosto li vendicherà. Ma, quando il Figliuol dell'uomo verrà, troverà egli pur la fede in terra?
