Romans 5:12, 15b, 17-19, 20b-21

Therefore, as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin, so death passed to all men because all sinned. But the free gift isn't like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ. So then as through one trespass, all men were condemned; even so through one act of righteousness, all men were justified to life. For as through the one man's disobedience many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous. The law came in that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly, that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Psalm 40:7-8a, 8b-9, 10, 17

Then I said, "Behold, I have come. It is written about me in the book in the scroll. I delight to do your will, my God. Yes, your law is within my heart." I have proclaimed glad news of righteousness in the great assembly. Behold, I will not seal my lips, LORD, you know. I have not hidden your righteousness within my heart. I have declared your faithfulness and your salvation. I have not concealed your loving kindness and your truth from the great assembly. But I am poor and needy. May the Lord think about me. You are my help and my deliverer. Don't delay, my God.

Luke 12:35-38

Lasset eure Lenden umgürtet sein und eure Lichter brennen und seid gleich den Menschen, die auf ihren Herrn warten, wann er aufbrechen wird von der Hochzeit, auf daß, wenn er kommt und anklopft, sie ihm alsbald auftun. Selig sind die Knechte, die der Herr, so er kommt, wachend findet. Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Er wird sich aufschürzen und wird sie zu Tische setzen und vor ihnen gehen und ihnen dienen. Und so er kommt in der anderen Wache und in der dritten Wache und wird's also finden: selig sind diese Knechte.
