Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, set apart for the Good News of God, which he promised before through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was born of the offspring of David according to the flesh, who was declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we received grace and apostleship for obedience of faith among all the nations for his name's sake; among whom you are also called to belong to Jesus Christ; to all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The LORD has made known his salvation. Quando as multidões se ajuntavam a ele, começou a dizer: "Esta é uma geração má. Ela pede um sinal. Nenhum sinal lhe será dado, senão o sinal do profeta Jonas. Pois, assim como Jonas se tornou um sinal para os ninivitas, também o Filho do Homem o será para esta geração. A Rainha do Sul se levantará no juízo com os homens desta geração e os condenará, pois ela veio dos confins da terra para ouvir a sabedoria de Salomão; e eis que está aqui quem é maior do que Salomão. Os homens de Nínive se levantarão no juízo com esta geração, e a condenarão, pois eles se arrependeram com a pregação de Jonas; e eis que está aqui quem é maior do que Jonas.
