Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ according to the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ our hope, to Timothy, my true child in faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. I thank him who enabled me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he counted me faithful, appointing me to service, although I used to be a blasphemer, a persecutor, and insolent. However, I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. The grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Or egli disse loro una similitudine. Può un cieco guidar per la via un altro cieco? non caderanno essi amendue nella fossa? Niun discepolo è da più del suo maestro; ma ogni discepolo perfetto dev'essere come il suo maestro. Ora, che guardi tu il fuscello ch' è nell'occhio del tuo fratello, e non iscorgi la trave ch' è nell'occhio tuo proprio? Ovvero, come puoi dire al tuo fratello: Fratello, lascia che io ti tragga il fuscello ch' è nell'occhio tuo; non veggendo tu stesso la trave ch' è nell'occhio tuo proprio? Ipocrita, trai prima dell'occhio tuo la trave, ed allora ci vedrai bene per trarre il fuscello, ch' è nell'occhio del tuo fratello.
