2 Corinthians 8:1-9

Moreover, brothers, we make known to you the grace of God which has been given in the assemblies of Macedonia, how in a severe ordeal of affliction, the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded to the riches of their generosity. For according to their power, I testify, yes and beyond their power, they gave of their own accord, begging us with much entreaty to receive this grace and the fellowship in the service to the saints. This was not as we had expected, but first they gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us through the will of God. So we urged Titus, that as he had made a beginning before, so he would also complete in you this grace. But as you abound in everything-in faith, utterance, knowledge, all earnestness, and in your love to us-see that you also abound in this grace. I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.

Psalm 146:2, 5-6ab, 6c- 7, 8-9a

While I live, I will praise the LORD. I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD, his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps truth forever; who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners. The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD raises up those who are bowed down. The LORD loves the righteous. The LORD preserves the foreigners. He upholds the fatherless and widow, but he turns the way of the wicked upside down.

Matthew 5:43-48

Voi avete udito ch'egli fu detto: Ama il tuo prossimo, e odia il tuo nemico. Ma io vi dico: Amate i vostri nemici, benedite coloro che vi maledicono, fate bene a coloro che vi odiano, e pregate per coloro che vi fanno torto, e vi perseguitano; acciocchè siate figliuoli del Padre vostro, che è ne' cieli; poichè egli fa levare il suo sole sopra i buoni, e sopra i malvagi; e piovere sopra i giusti, e sopra gl'ingiusti. Perciocchè, se voi amate coloro che vi amano, che premio ne avrete? non fanno ancora i pubblicani lo stesso? E se fate accoglienza solo a' vostri amici, che fate di singolare? non fanno ancora i pubblicani il simigliante? Voi adunque siate perfetti, come è perfetto il Padre vostro, che è ne' cieli.
