Jonah 3:1-5, 10

The LORD's word came to Jonah the second time, saying, "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I give you." So Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh, according to the LORD's word. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, three days' journey across. Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried out, and said, "In forty days, Nineveh will be overthrown!" The people of Nineveh believed God; and they proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from their greatest even to their least. God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. God relented of the disaster which he said he would do to them, and he didn't do it.

Signore, fammi conoscere le tue vie; Insegnami i tuoi sentieri. Inviami nella tua verità, ed ammaestrami; Perciocchè tu sei l'Iddio della mia salute; Io ti attendo tuttodì. Ricordati, Signore, delle tue compassioni, e delle tue benignità; Perciocchè sono ab eterno. But I say this, brothers: the time is short. From now on, both those who have wives may be as though they had none; and those who weep, as though they didn't weep; and those who rejoice, as though they didn't rejoice; and those who buy, as though they didn't possess; and those who use the world, as not using it to the fullest. For the mode of this world passes away.

Mark 1:14-20

ORA, dopo che Giovanni fu messo in prigione, Gesù venne in Galilea, predicando l'evangelo del regno di Dio; e dicendo: Il tempo è compiuto, e il regno di Dio è vicino; ravvedetevi, e credete all'evangelo. Ora, passeggiando lungo il mar della Galilea, egli vide Simone, e Andrea, fratello d'esso Simone, che gettavano la lor rete in mare; perciocchè erano pescatori. E Gesù disse loro: Venite dietro a me, ed io vi farò esser pescatori d'uomini. Ed essi, lasciate prestamente le lor reti, lo seguitarono. Poi, passando un poco più oltre di là, vide Giacomo di Zebedeo, e Giovanni, suo fratello, i quali racconciavan le lor reti nella navicella; e subito li chiamò; ed essi, lasciato Zebedeo lor padre, nella navicella, con gli operai, se ne andarono dietro a lui.
