Première lecture

2 Corinthians 8:1-9

Moreover, brothers, we make known to you the grace of God which has been given in the assemblies of Macedonia, how in a severe ordeal of affliction, the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded to the riches of their generosity. For according to their power, I testify, yes and beyond their power, they gave of their own accord, begging us with much entreaty to receive this grace and the fellowship in the service to the saints. This was not as we had expected, but first they gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us through the will of God. So we urged Titus, that as he had made a beginning before, so he would also complete in you this grace. But as you abound in everything-in faith, utterance, knowledge, all earnestness, and in your love to us-see that you also abound in this grace. I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.

Psalm 146:2, 5-6ab, 6c- 7, 8-9a

While I live, I will praise the LORD. I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD, his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps truth forever; who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners. The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD raises up those who are bowed down. The LORD loves the righteous. The LORD preserves the foreigners. He upholds the fatherless and widow, but he turns the way of the wicked upside down.

Matthew 5:43-48

Vous avez entendu qu'il a été dit: Tu aimeras ton prochain, et tu haïras ton ennemi. Mais moi je vous dis: Aimez vos ennemis, bénissez ceux qui vous maudissent; faites du bien à ceux qui vous haïssent, et priez pour ceux qui vous outragent et qui vous persécutent; Afin que vous soyez des enfants de votre Père qui est dans les cieux; car il fait lever son soleil sur les méchants et sur les bons, et il fait pleuvoir sur les justes et sur les injustes. Car si vous n'aimez que ceux qui vous aiment, quelle récompense en aurez-vous? Les péagers même n'en font-ils pas autant? Et si vous ne faites accueil qu'à vos frères, que faites-vous d'extraordinaire? Les péagers même n'en font-ils pas autant? Soyez donc parfaits, comme votre Père qui est dans les cieux est parfait.
