1 Thessalonians 3:7-13

For this cause, brothers, we were comforted over you in all our distress and affliction through your faith. For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord. For what thanksgiving can we give again to God for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice for your sakes before our God, night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face and may perfect that which is lacking in your faith? Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you. May the Lord make you to increase and abound in love toward one another and toward all men, even as we also do toward you, to the end he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.

Psalm 90:3-5a, 12-13, 14 and 17

You turn man to destruction, saying, "Return, you children of men." For a thousand years in your sight are just like yesterday when it is past, like a watch in the night. You sweep them away as they sleep. In the morning they sprout like new grass. So teach us to count our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Relent, LORD! How long? Have compassion on your servants! Satisfy us in the morning with your loving kindness, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us. Establish the work of our hands for us. Yes, establish the work of our hands.

Matthew 24:42-51

Velad, pues, porque no sabéis a qué hora ha de venir vuestro Señor. Pero sabed esto, que si el padre de familia supiese a qué hora el ladrón habría de venir, velaría, y no dejaría minar su casa. Por tanto, también vosotros estad preparados; porque el Hijo del Hombre vendrá a la hora que no pensáis. "¿Quién es, pues, el siervo fiel y prudente, al cual puso su señor sobre su casa para que les dé el alimento a tiempo? Bienaventurado aquel siervo al cual, cuando su señor venga, le halle haciendo así. De cierto os digo que sobre todos sus bienes le pondrá. Pero si aquel siervo malo dijere en su corazón: Mi señor tarda en venir; y comenzare a golpear a sus consiervos, y aun a comer y a beber con los borrachos, vendrá el señor de aquel siervo en día que éste no espera, y a la hora que no sabe, y lo castigará duramente, y pondrá su parte con los hipócritas; allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.
