Primera lectura

2 Corinthians 3:15 - 4:1, 3-6

But to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face seeing the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit. Therefore, seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we don't faint. being revealed that you are a letter of Christ, served by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tablets of stone, but in tablets that are hearts of flesh. Such confidence we have through Christ toward God, not that we are sufficient of ourselves to account anything as from ourselves; but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Psalm 85:9ab and 10, 11-12, 13-14

Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land. Mercy and truth meet together. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth springs out of the earth. Righteousness has looked down from heaven. Yes, the LORD will give that which is good. Our land will yield its increase. Righteousness goes before him, and prepares the way for his steps.

Matthew 5:20-26

Porque os digo que si vuestra justicia no es mayor que la de los escribas y fariseos, no entraréis en el Reino de los Cielos. "Habéis oído que a los antiguos se les dijo: «No matarás», y que «quien mate correrá peligro de ser juzgado». Pero yo os digo que todo el que se enoje con su hermano sin causa, estará en peligro del juicio. El que diga a su hermano: "¡Raca!", correrá el peligro del consejo. El que diga: «¡Necio!», correrá el peligro del fuego de la Gehena. "Por tanto, si estás ofreciendo tu ofrenda en el altar, y allí te acuerdas de que tu hermano tiene algo contra ti, deja tu ofrenda allí, ante el altar, y sigue tu camino. Primero reconcíliate con tu hermano, y luego ven a ofrecer tu ofrenda. Ponte de acuerdo con tu adversario rápidamente mientras estás con él en el camino; no sea que el adversario te entregue al juez, y el juez te entregue al alguacil, y seas echado a la cárcel. De cierto te digo que no saldrás de allí hasta que hayas pagado el último céntimo.
