Job 7:1-4, 6-7
"Isn't a man forced to labor on earth? Aren't his days like the days of a hired hand? As a servant who earnestly desires the shadow, as a hireling who looks for his wages, so I am made to possess months of misery, wearisome nights are appointed to me. When I lie down, I say, 'When will I arise, and the night be gone?' I toss and turn until the dawning of the day. My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are spent without hope. Oh remember that my life is a breath. My eye will no more see good.

Psalm 147:1-2, 3-4, 5-6
¡Alabado sea Yah! Porque es bueno cantar salmos a nuestro Dios; porque suave y hermosa es la alabanza. Yahvé edifica a Jerusalén; a los desterrados de Israel recogerá. Él sana a los quebrantados de corazón, y venda sus heridas. Él cuenta el número de las estrellas; a todas ellas llama por sus nombres. Grande es nuestro Señor, y de inmenso poder; su entendimiento es infinito. Yahvé exalta a los humildes, y humilla a los impíos hasta la tierra.

1 Corinthians 9:16-19, 22-23
For if I preach the Good News, I have nothing to boast about, for necessity is laid on me; but woe is to me if I don't preach the Good News. For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward. But if not of my own will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me. What then is my reward? That when I preach the Good News, I may present the Good News of Christ without charge, so as not to abuse my authority in the Good News. For though I was free from all, I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more. To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some. Now I do this for the sake of the Good News, that I may be a joint partaker of it.

Mark 1:29-39
En seguida, cuando salieron de la sinagoga, entraron en casa de Simón y Andrés, con Santiago y Juan. La suegra de Simón estaba enferma de fiebre, y enseguida le hablaron de ella. Él se acercó, la tomó de la mano y la levantó. La fiebre se le quitó enseguida, y les sirvió. Al atardecer, cuando se puso el sol, le llevaron a todos los enfermos y endemoniados. Toda la ciudad estaba reunida a la puerta. Él curó a muchos enfermos de diversas enfermedades y expulsó a muchos demonios. No dejaba hablar a los demonios, porque le conocían. De madrugada, cuando aún estaba oscuro, se levantó y salió, y se fue a un lugar desierto, y allí oró. Simón y los que estaban con él lo buscaron. Lo encontraron y le dijeron: «Todos te buscan». Les dijo: «Vayamos a otra parte, a las ciudades vecinas, para que predique también allí, porque he salido por este motivo.» Y entró en las sinagogas de ellos por toda Galilea, predicando y expulsando los demonios.
